This week Alby from Woven The Agency has been hard at work at Town House Window, Fournier Street, Spitalfields, showcasing Age of Reason Autumn Winter 2014 women’s wear scarf collection.
AW14 is a contemporary collage of lavish opera scenes, handwritten text, wild tribal patterns, and winged creatures in striking colour combinations on silk and wool. Prints take inspiration from African Art, Japanese print and infrared technology, resulting in high contrast graphics with a hand rendered feel. We also have new cashmere modal cloth blends on offer, which feel exquisite.
We’re excited about our NO MORE DRAMA silk and feather shawl, a luxurious deep indigo blue piece depicting a fantasy opera scene drawn in inks. It can be worn over the shoulders or worn in a more contemporary way as a scarf, ideally teamed with denim or leather. The feathers are sourced from a UK supplier and elevate the piece to a high-luxe statement level.
The Town House itself, a fascinating An early eighteenth century building in Spitalfields, opposite Hawksmoor’s Christ Church, was inhabited by weavers until about 1820. Later, two doctors, father and son, became the occupants for fifty years until the 1870’s.
What is now the rear gallery showcasing artists’ work and antiques, was originally built as their surgery. The building has seen many trades over the years; a Russian translator, coffee rooms, a furrier, storage for the vegetable market. At the end of the Second World War it became the Market Cafe, which traded until 2000 and the arrival of Town House.
Woven agency represents Swedish brand Nygardsanna, Neeru Kumar from India and UK based labels Alexa de Castillho jewellery, Age of Reason scarves, Anna Pugh bags, Caroline Cashmere and Liberties beads.
